About ME

I am a Senior Assistant Professor (RTD-b) in Economic Policy (Politica Economica) at the School of International Studies & the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Trento (Italy).

Furthermore, I'm a Research Associate at the Land, Environment, Economics and Policy Institute (LEEP) at the University of Exeter (UK), and a Honorary Research Associate at the Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences Research Group at the James Hutton Institute (UK).

My research interests lie in the area of environmental economics. My work focuses on understanding the dynamics and trade-offs between the economy and the environment, both in terms of how economic decisions affect the natural environment and how the natural environment matters in economic decisions.

In particular, I'm interested in analysing society's economic preferences for (and the economic value of) alternative allocations of natural resources, and the drivers affecting them. To study the above, I rely on micro-economic theory, which I test empirically by combining both primary and secondary economic and environmental data.

The results of my research provide practical solutions that are relevant  to inform private and public decision-making regarding the benefits and costs of the conservation/restoration versus the exploitation of the environment.

I have participated in a range of research projects, including e.g. EU-H2020, government and Research Council funded projects and I'm currently a co-investigator in the Horizon Europe projects "Food Provision through Sustainable Farming Systems and Value Chains" (VISIONARY) and "Promoting Green Nudging for Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry" (PRUDENT), I'm also a co-investigator in the Esm
ee Fairnbairn Foundation funded project "From Biodiversity Net Gains to Environmental Net Gains: Widening the net and engaging communities", and in the PRIN PNRR 2022 funded project "Impact Assessment of extreme climatic events on the Italian agriculture - incentivize Adaptation to Climate Change" (IMPACT).
